I’ve been preparing merchandise for upcoming Canzine 2009 and my online shop. This is the first of many: 4×5¼ inch cards. I’m typically not a fan of the ordinary gloss prints so I tried making these a little different; opting for printing on brown postal wrapping paper, which I love and use often in my projects. They’re all cut and put together by hand.
Behind the Scenes
I took my large roll of postal wrapping paper and cut it to standard A4 size (8.5×11in). After arranging the illustrations, I used an inkjet printer to print out the artwork. I used inkjet because it has a nice matte finish, unfortunately that makes these cards non-waterproof so don’t get them wet!

Similarly to my zine, I dotted the cheeks of any characters with a red micropen.

I then cut the print into quarters, trimming any access paper to even out the borders.

Postal wrap on its own is too flimsy to be a proper card, so I grabbed some thick paper stock, glued the backing and cut the paper to size.

I finished off with penning my website URL, signature and year at the bottom.

There are currently only 8 designs and only two copies of each. Right now I’m testing out the popularity of these prints to see if I should make more. If any of these appeal to you at all, drop a comment and let me know!
