Roleplay in Vancouver!

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

My sister went to Vancouver last year and dropped off a few of our zines at the zine library in The Regional Assembly of Text store on Main street.

She went again this year and sent me this snapshot a few days ago:

vancouver-zineMine’s still there! Hooray!

Happy to see it’s still there and not lost or stolen (apparently 3 of my sister’s zines were taken!). I’ll be mailing more zines to libraries (hopefully) around the world by New Years. I’ll stock up on stamps now…

Today I’m Kind of Drab

I wish August had a few extra weeks, I could really use it. Below are a couple sketchbook pages of when I was exploring different character designs before settling on Bowl-Cut Girl, derived from the little missy in the centre right.

Here they are! The two new pieces from my show last week in full web glory. There’ll be 10 pages to the Hair is Dead zine with 7-9 drawings (including these). It’ll be quarter size -an upgrade from my super mini zines from before, to help showcase the meticulous details.

I’m hoping to get a prototype of the zine out by mid August, which means endless hours of pain-staking renderings for the rest of the week…!

SHOW_pplsnp2

The People Snapping artist and musician showcase was a prime time to unveil more new pieces from my work in progress Hair is Dead zine! I’ll upload clear web versions of the artwork in my next entry so check back say … the end of this week? For now, take these teasers!

SHOW_pplsnp1Setting up for the show

All the artists had full reign with any of the wall and shelf space in the loft. Brick is a nightmare to mount on so I snagged myself a mirrored wall and put up my three pieces. I also framed a couple Get Off! roleplay pieces and set them up on the shelf behind the bands.

I had a t-shirt printed of one of my pieces! Darren (the guy behind People Snapping) is setting up a t-shirt shop at 557 Queen W. and will be displaying this one. More about that when I get word of it.

I appreciate every single person that came out to see myself and all the other artists and musicians! Much love to you all.
