<p style="text-align: center;">Photo shot by <a href="http://nancyzhang.net">Nancy</a>!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Self portraits are one of those things a lot of artists loathe and love. As much as its convenient to have a life model whenever we want, it gets really tiring to draw the same face, body type and features all day.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I was looking through a crap ton (bulging binders, half a dozen completed sketchbooks, loose papers, an actual crap ton) of my old drawings, and noticed how I managed to squeeze out a few self portraits every few years or so. It&#8217;s really funny to see how your face has changed just as your drawing ability and style does too!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait5.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1627" title="2011-Portrait5" src="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait5-216x300.jpg" alt="" width="216" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This is the earliest self portrait I have. I was really into cartoons and Japanese animation, so my eyes, naturally, were massive.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait4.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1626" title="2011-Portrait4" src="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait4-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">2004</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Doll-eyed still, but atleast proportions were getting better!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait3.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1625" title="2011-Portrait3" src="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait3-254x300.jpg" alt="" width="254" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">2004</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Although drawn in the same year as the previous one, I somehow managed to age myself a decade.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait2.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1624" title="2011-Portrait2" src="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait2-215x300.jpg" alt="" width="215" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">2005</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait1.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1623" title="2011-Portrait1" src="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait1-217x300.jpg" alt="" width="217" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">2009</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">There was a long lull between this portrait and the last (maybe I misplaced it, or maybe I was sick of drawing my face). Either way, this was done my first year of art school. We had to do many self portraits .. oh yes. My tonal study got loads better but I look like a horse.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1622" title="2011-Portrait" src="http://www.jeanniephan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/2011-Portrait-219x300.jpg" alt="" width="219" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">2010</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The most recently portrait and I&#8217;m due for a new one this summer. My likeliness is finally getting better although that may be because I&#8217;m making a face.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I&#8217;ll be compiling a bunch of these old drawings into a progress book to share with you all. Will be worth a few giggles and wise words I think. Mainly giggles.</p>
