I’ve been invited to participate in Sophie Snow’s first ever art exhibit at her Happy Six store In L.A! I’m very excited to be able to contribute something to what will be I’m sure, a great new concept store.

I’ll be shipping three prints of the works below and can’t wait to get a snapshot of it on display! I will try hard to get these up for the opening night but if not, they’ll be there throughout the duration of the exhibit. :)

These are all 8×10 digital prints mounted on wood panels. Each with delicate gold touches done by hand.

If you’re in the area at all, I hope you can drop by! I’ll sadly still be in Toronto.

SHOW_pplsnp2

The People Snapping artist and musician showcase was a prime time to unveil more new pieces from my work in progress Hair is Dead zine! I’ll upload clear web versions of the artwork in my next entry so check back say … the end of this week? For now, take these teasers!

SHOW_pplsnp1Setting up for the show

All the artists had full reign with any of the wall and shelf space in the loft. Brick is a nightmare to mount on so I snagged myself a mirrored wall and put up my three pieces. I also framed a couple Get Off! roleplay pieces and set them up on the shelf behind the bands.

I had a t-shirt printed of one of my pieces! Darren (the guy behind People Snapping) is setting up a t-shirt shop at 557 Queen W. and will be displaying this one. More about that when I get word of it.

I appreciate every single person that came out to see myself and all the other artists and musicians! Much love to you all.

kozyndan

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

I had first heard of kozyndan over a year ago when I was oogling their bunnyfish prints at my favorite store Magic Pony (I received a signed Uprising print for Christmas the same year and boy was I happy). So I was delighted to find out that they were coming to Toronto to promote their new art book The Unknown Portraits at the Narwhal gallery space at Queen west and of course I had, had to go -how could I pass up the opportunity to meet my favorite illustrative duo?

October 1st came, and I lined up with their velvety book in hand. I brought with me two drawings, one of Kozy and one of Dan as hybrids of their bunnyfish to give to them as gifts! Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me, so courtesy of kozyndan’s flickr here they are:

I was excited, nervous, and just a little flushed to meet the two. Kozy signed my book and did a super cute portrait which I’ll be sure to cherish forever and ever.

Needless to say, I had a great night! Hopefully kozyndan will be dropping by Toronto again soon. :)

PS. I’d also like to thank them for looking me up and including me in their experience for their opening night! Take a glimpse at their livejournal.
