Back in Toronto! Last week was a ghetto-fab-hostel-crashing-3-day trip with Shianne and Myra. First day: Soho shopping trip, since we’re girly like that. Not too interesting since I’m not a shopaholic so I left with a couple shirts, boyfriend tees and a pair of keds.

The second day was Williamsburg. We took the pretty dank subway system (though Toronto’s not all that better) to explore what was apparently a ghost town at 11:00 in the morning. We shot a few photos of some really cool street art. I actually don’t own a good camera, so I took cellphone pics and with the wonders of photoshop give you this montage:

The sun was a beast that day. We took refuge in a neat little vegan cafe to grab some lunch. I’m not vegan nor vegetarian myself, so I prefer a nice meaty burger, but the food wasn’t half-bad for grains and green stuff.

Come nightfall, me and Shianne visited a comic shop near by: Midtown Comics. I nabbed a gorgeous art book and an indie comic.

Fast forward to the third and final day. This was probably my favorite day because we went gallery hopping in Chelsea. We skipped the MoMA alltogether, but rest assured I’ll be paying a visit next time I’m in town.

While at Amy Sillman’s exhibit at the Jenkins Gallery, me and my sister picked up her zine “The O-G” (volume 3). Interesting read about the lightbulb. Also nabbed a couple stickers that were on the walls of a building or two. Shuuuuush.

The journey back home was an ass-aching 10-hour bus ride with only my ipod and DS to amuse me. Motion sickness prevented me from doing any reading lest a colorful addition land on my page.

We were back home on Friday night around midnight. That gave me one fullnight’s sleep before heading to TCAF. How could I miss it?! Despite the exhausting trip I dragged myself to the Toronto’s Reference Library. Grabbed these bad boys (and some long-awaited sushi afterwards):

I went to school on Sunday to clear out my locker of the piles of newsprint and illustration board and some old artwork to bring back home. I came just in time to catch the last half hour of the OCAD grad show. No time to take pics! I could only breeze through the illustration thesis projects and grabbed business cards of artists I could check out in-depth later on.

That is all.
